A Tale of Two Sisters (in progress…)2006

I wish I’d never met you 2006
These pieces are part of a series titled “Domestic”. They are mixed media pieces that comment on the idea of home and the relationships that are established within the home. Consider the division of labor, the inequality and the power struggle among the members of any given household. Consider perhaps, the changes that the average family has experienced in the last few decades: single parent households, same sex parents, blended families of every imaginable kind…What does the domestic front look like these days? This series attemps to visually answer some of these questions.
Future images will be posted as they become available.

…and baby makes two 2006
Here is the invitation that’s being circulated for the Warm Nest exhibition at the Galerie Gang in IJmuiden, Holland. I am very happy to be part of this show and to be in the company of so many talented artists. I just hope I get to meet them in person someday…Don’t hesitate to visit the Galerie Gang site for more images of this show and some other very interesting information. A great way to expand your horizons and find out what’s happening in the European art world…

…with pretty maids all in a row…of course… and to be fair, a few pretty gentlemen were in attendance too. We are most grateful to all.

Some nice developments (that I will explain in detail later) took place during the opening.
Opportunities arise at the least expected moment…As a preview, I will say that the very talented Mr. Evan Small and myself will collaborate for an upcoming show at the Factory in 5th Street in June 2007. It promises to be an interesting blend of techniques and styles that complement each other quite beautifully. The Factory is a great place to spend a Friday evening looking at some innovative and fresh artwork. Details will come soon…
I truly enjoy partnering with other artists for shows…not just painters….sculptors, poets…I look forward to such meetings of the minds…
If you did not have the chance to attend our opening, please visit the images posted on line at www.arthaus66.com . You are sure to enjoy the work and perhaps you’ll find something that you truly, truly need….Art is good for the soul…
Mr. Wain Wayne sold one of his most celebrated pieces The Mustard Council Presents Cyber Racing Version 2.0 during his My Happy period show. We were very happy for him. For those of you not yet familiar with his zany work, you can still visit his gallery at www.arthaus66.com .
We wish him the best of luck in his artistic endeavors…
Thank you to all who submitted work to Desert Blooms. The finished show is quite astounding. The work is varied and interesting in many different ways. There are olis, watercolors, mixed media pieces…Abstraction and delicate realism…Flowers, vibrant colors, poignant faces, intense geometry and surreal scenes. Something for everyone…Yet the show comes across as a unit, with all artists represented sharing a genuine and honest love of painting. Don’t miss it…
Fabulous reviews for the “travelling pieces”. The Holland affair is fast approaching and so far it couldn’t look better. The work arrived intact and was unveiled among the applause and the “aahhs” of those lucky enough to witness it. Lots of overseas kudos….very much appreciated in this side of the Atlantic.
The seeds are in the ground…so to speak. All the artists for Desert Blooms have signed their contracts and are ready to deliver their work…I hope (as I always do) that the party does not dissapoint. I know I am delighted with the work we’ve received and I have no doubt it will be a great show. The invitations were simple and elegant…So far, so good.
Soon we’ll also be able to have the garden open for the parties. It holds many more guests than our modest indoor space and makes the gatherings much nicer. Watch for cool photos from the opening of Desert Blooms….They’ll be posted in a couple of weeks.
Please, check out the artwork included in Desert Blooms at www.arthaus66.com .
Here are the two entries for the Gallerie Gang….They have not seen them yet since they are in transit as we speak…Hope they don’t dissapoint.

The two paintings that will be travelling to Holland are in the mail as of today. They will be part of a show to take place in April at the Gallerie Gang in IJmuiden, Holland. I am very grateful to Alexandra Drenth, the gallery director who contacted my and asked me for entries for the show. It’s an honor…Let’s hope that everything goes well: the pieces get there intact, everyone loves them and they can go to a good home…If you wish to look at the paintings they will be posted soon…perhaps here in the blog…
In the home front…we are trying to get back to something that resembles normal….Work is piled up high and spirits are still damp…We are taking entries for Desert Blooms at ARTHAUS66 and trying to get the pages on the website…Lots of beautiful and very diverse work…Very interesting.
I will be having a show at the extremely popular Flying Star Cafe here in Albuquerque. It is the gathering place around here. I always find all of its many locations (they seem to be sprouting everywhere) full and buzzing. From downtown to the westside. I imaging that more people will see the pieces there than at every other opening combined….It truly is the best opportunity to reach those who otherwise would probably not see the paintings…I am very happy that they called me to offer me this great chance. I believe, that the show will hang at the Downtown location (another possibility is the Satellite in Central)… Please, come by and look at the work while you enjoy a fabulous piece of cake! What could be better? Good food and (may I be so bold as to say) good art at the same time!!!….I guess, some sales would be even better…We’ll see.
