Baby Steps

One sale, albeit still not consumated, during the show. I am waiting to receive payment so that, in turn, I can get the Factory their commission…The initial payment for the space has already been made….and the garbage taken out, the nails plucked from the walls, the thumbtacks removed, the counters wiped clean, the surfaces dusted off….all those things that one does not expect to do prior to a show…They’re done and all is well. A deal is a deal…and lesson learned.
Thank you to Mr. Evan Small for being so helpful and diligent. Thank you for his beautiful artwork and for facilitating the sale….Perhaps, he’s the one who deserves the commission…He brought in a very nice group of people that we hope to see again in future shows…As for “our” group of people, with the exception of the most reliable and enthusiastic of couples (you know who you are), the rest of the guests don’t seem to be worth the ink on the invitations…Disappointed, yes… Saddenned, a bit… It’s not that I am expecting people I know to actually make a purchase…I’ve learned that is a bit too much to ask…but I would like some of the self-proclaimed art lovers to make an appearance in support of local artists such as myself….Don’t get me wrong…I miss the ocassional show here and there…that is completely understandable…but I realize now that there are some people in my so call “circle” that have no intention of ever showing up to anything no matter how many invitations I personally deposit in their very hands…
…It is also their loss…They are missing out on some honest art, great friends and some darn good food…particularly at Arthaus66. The guests who did attend (about 100 or so) were as enchanting as they were supportive. We appreciate your presence at the “He Said, She Said” opening…Thank you all…

…with pretty maids all in a row…of course… and to be fair, a few pretty gentlemen were in attendance too. We are most grateful to all.

Some nice developments (that I will explain in detail later) took place during the opening.
Opportunities arise at the least expected moment…As a preview, I will say that the very talented Mr. Evan Small and myself will collaborate for an upcoming show at the Factory in 5th Street in June 2007. It promises to be an interesting blend of techniques and styles that complement each other quite beautifully. The Factory is a great place to spend a Friday evening looking at some innovative and fresh artwork. Details will come soon…
I truly enjoy partnering with other artists for shows…not just painters….sculptors, poets…I look forward to such meetings of the minds…
If you did not have the chance to attend our opening, please visit the images posted on line at www.arthaus66.com . You are sure to enjoy the work and perhaps you’ll find something that you truly, truly need….Art is good for the soul…

Here is our artist. Exuding confidence…Two visitors in the background enraptured by the collages…

It was truly a full house and there was something for everyone. Rave reviews for the artwork and some guests looking at our roster of very talented artists…

Moments before the guests started to arrive…and last minute jitters…a photo for posterity…
Transmutations will be opening soon. Very soon, in fact. The show will be comprised of paintings and drawings that mirror each other. The drawings, I understand, precede the paintings. They are the embryonic form of the larger paintings…I can’t wait to see them in person…We are hoping that we can attract as large a crowd as we did during our first opening…For a modest size gallery such as ours, over a 100 people is quite a big crowd.
The artist, Eileen Anastasia Reynolds, is in transit from Singapore… She will be here for the opening.
Those of you who are on our mailing list will be receiving the invitation to the opening very soon. Save the date…It promises to be a fun opening! Do consider art as the stuff of holiday giving…You support the artist and make someone’s life more beautiful with your gift…Fewer things are more suitable to be shared than art.
…and if you cannot make it this time, the artwork is on display and online for a solid month…There’s no excuse for missing it.
Paper Trail finally came together. The opening came and went as well. A steady trickle of people…Not bad. I was quite happy with the pieces in the show…Works on paper…There is something very delicate and ephemeral about them…The best thing about Arthaus66 is that we continue to meet very competent, very nice artists…A blessing. I’m thankful to all that attended…particularly Margi Weir for her encouraging words and her outstanding artwork. Thank you to Evey Jones for her beautifully haunting monotypes and her ongoing support…The sales help too…Always welcome…
